7 Action News told you about the Top 5 most dangerous intersections in Metro Detroit.

A couple of them have roundabouts, which could be contributing to the number of crashes.

"It's something new. It's different. From our point of view it's a very efficient form of intersection," said Craig Bryson, who is with the Road Commission for Oakland County.

Oakland County has the most roundabouts in the state.

A recent study named the top 5 most dangerous intersections in metro Detroit, two of them are roundabouts.

"Identify the lane you want to be in and before you get in the roundabout. We don't want to see people swerving from lane to lane inside the roundabout," Bryson explained. "Secondly when you come up to the roundabout, there is a yield sign. Yield at the sign and look to your left to see if there is any traffic coming, if there is you have to yield in the roundabout in all lanes."

Bryson said you should drive 15 to 25 miles per hour in the roundabout, do not stop and stay in your lane.

"People have to, what we call, lane discipline. Get in your lane and stay there. Don't cut over a lane. If you missed your exit go around again and exit the next time around."

It's important to familiarize yourself with roundabouts.

"After they use it a couple of times, they lose that nervousness."
