Michigan Humane Society fundraising walks
The Michigan Humane Society is having two fundraising walks. One is at Kensington Metropark on Oct. 5 and the other in Eastern Market on Oct. 6. More information on the Doggie Dash can be found here.
Ferndale Fall Festival
The Ferndale Fall Festival will happen at Martin Road Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5. Entertainment includes hayrides, pony rides, carnival games and more. It costs $5 or ages 3 and up.
Detroit Cocktail Classic
The Detroit Cocktail Classic is at Eastern Market on Friday, Oct. 4. It's the cocktail party of the year, and tickets are $50 which include 10 sample cocktails. Dozens of bars and restaurants will be on hand serving up their best drinks. For more information, click here.
Polkatoberfest
Pokatoberfest at Eastern Market will happen in Shed 3 from 11 a.m .to 6 p.m. featuring Polish cuisine, Polish beer, a crafter and artisan market Polka dancing and more. For more information, click here.
Highland Octoberfest
This free, family-friendly event includes a Halloween costume contest for adults and kids, live music, food vendors, sellers, a chili cook-off and more. It's happening at Highland Plaza at 744 Highland Rd. from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5.
Fall Flavor Weekends at Greenfield Village
Fall Flavor Weekends returns to Greenfield village from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. There will be traditional fall cooking demonstrations, a farmers market, expert talks and more. Details here
Light the Night Cancer Walk
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is hosting the Light the Night Cancer Walk at Hart Plaza on Saturday night. Participants will gather at Detroit's Hart Plaza at 6:00pm on Saturday to honor and support cancer survivors, then walk along a one-mile route down the RiverWalk, carrying illuminated lanterns-white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of loved ones lost to cancer.
