OAKLAND, Mich. (WXYZ) — Tuesday was the deadline to submit an application for the position of Oakland County executive, and 21 candidates successful entered the race.

There is currently an interim executive in office following the death of longtime Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson, who died at the age of 80 earlier in August.

Since Patterson's death, there has been a call for one of the board commissioners to resign after a 7 Investigation uncovered a push to delete emails.
The Oakland County Board of Commissioners will hold interviews Wednesday. The interviews will be public and broadcast on the board's website beginning at 9:30 a.m.
