High winds over 60 MPH causing damage across metro Detroit

High winds are causing damage across metro Detroit today. We've received numerous reports of wires and trees down in the area.

More than 620,000 people are currently without power, according to DTE Energy and Consumers Energy. Both the Macomb County Administration Building in Mount Clemens and the 38th District Court in Eastpointe are closed due to power outages. Warren District Court, 55th District Court in Mason, Grosse Pointe Woods City Offices and the Redford Community Center are also closed.

A 7 Action News crew came across a tree on a house in Grosse Pointe Park. The house is in the 1200 block of Grayton.Trees were also reported on houses in Birmingham and Wyandotte.

Live wires are also down at Pacific and Farmer in Plymouth, according to police. In Novi, a downed wire is blocking the entrance to the DPS yard and recycling center. In Livonia, a line is down on 7 Mile near Brentwood. 

Crews are also on the scene of a carport that has blown over in Chesterfield Township. Luckily, no injuries have been reported.

A High Wind Warning is in effect until 7 p.m. Gusts around 50 mph are expected.
