Holiday storms could impact travel

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and its preceded by one of the biggest travel days of the year. This is bad timing for the powerful storms we have in the forecast. The first storm arrives Tuesday evening - Wednesday and the second Friday night.

Storm Number One:

For the first storm temperatures will be above normal helping to make this one mostly about rain. This may be a better scenario for Metro Detroit but on the back edge of this storm - colder air will be present. This means if you have travel plans or folks coming in from out of town, delays will be possible if they're traveling from the north or west.

Winter storm watches are already in effect for portions of the country.

Our biggest impacts from this storm will be heavy rain and gusty winds but some snow could mix in Wednesday night as the storm pulls away.

Storm Number Two:

There is a lot of uncertainty with this storm since we are six days out but its worth following for sure. More cold air will be available for this storm meaning it could create quite the "wintry mess" across the country. Stay tuned as we get closer to the weekend. Impact timing appears to be Friday night thru Saturday making for a messy Ohio State vs Michigan game.
