(WXYZ) — Cars racing through Detroit neighborhoods is nothing new, and with the announcement of more speed humps being installed in Detroit, people want to know how to get them in their neighborhoods.

Diane Mallette reached out to 7 Action News by emailing gettingaround@wxyz.com. She lives on Snowden on Detroit’s west side and said she is sick of cars flying through her neighborhood.

“You can just sit here and watch them and they’ll zoom zoom, and it’s just that I am concerned [for the] kids,” Mallette said.

Mallette is hopeful her street will qualify for a speed hump.

The city of Detroit has announced the installation of 4,500 speed humps in 2021. Where those humps will go is yet to be determined.

The city is taking requests, and an online form can be filled out if you would like a speed hump in your neighborhood. Click here to fill out the form.

Keep in mind, it may take a couple days or weeks for the city to get back to you. From there, an engineer will assess the street to see if it meets the criteria for a speed hump.
