(WXYZ) — James Crumbley, the father of the Oxford High School shooter, has been found guilty on four counts of involuntary manslaughter in connection to the deadly November 2021 shooting.
The jury announced the verdict on day two of deliberations.

James now faces up to 15 years in prison.

Following the verdict, Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald held a press conference with the parents of the Oxford shooting victims.
"This verdict does not bring back their children, but it does mark a moment of accountability and will hopefully be another step to address and end and prevent gun violence," she said.
Prosecutor McDonald added, "These parents could have prevented these shootings...with basic, reasonable, ordinary care."

Among the parents speaking at the news conference was Nicole Beausoleil, the mother of Madisyn Baldwin, who spoke about her bond with the other families of those killed in the shootings.
"This has been a really hard road and the friendships that I've made with these families are friendships that I wish I didn't have to make the way I did, but these people are some of my best friends and I thank them more than they will ever know," Beausoleil said. "What I want to say mostly is, yeah, we have a verdict now, we have a guilty verdict for both parents. We have crossed those three lines of getting accountability on that end, but, right now, we have a verdict. We have to execute that verdict. We have to plan for change. We have to reinforce it. This is not just a verdict for attention or media. This is a verdict that actually needs to be put to the platform that it is. How are we gonna use this verdict to actually make that change that needs."
A joint statement was sent out from the parents of Hana St. Juliana, Tate Myre, Madisyn Baldwin, and Justin Shilling who have united as Families for Change:
“Nothing will bring our children back. But, there is some comfort in knowing that the parents who armed their son so he could commit such a terrible crime are being held accountable. Our hope is that this is a first step in an effort to hold all those responsible accountable and end gun violence so that we finally end the cycle of families feeling the pain that we do. We thank our Prosecutor Karen McDonald for pursuing these charges and seeking justice for our families and community."
Jennifer Crumbley was also convicted in February on four counts of involuntary manslaughter.

In November 2021, the Crumbleys' son shot and killed four students – Hana St. Juliana, Tate Myre, Justin Shilling and Madisyn Baldwin – and injured six other students and a teacher.
Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald took an unprecedented step and charged the parents in connection to the shooting. The trials have received national attention with legal experts discussing how future school shooting cases are handled by prosecutors.
Throughout the trial, the court heard testimony from police detectives, school officials, victims in the shooting and more.
The shooter pleaded guilty to the murders of his four classmates and was sentenced in December. He is appealing his life sentence.
James and Jennifer are expected to be sentenced on April 9.
