DETROIT (WXYZ) — Jesse is a 13-year-old eighth grader who is very artistic and hopes to share his creativity with his future adoptive family.

“I really like to draw. I started drawing when my dad showed me how to draw portraits, self portraits,” said Jesse.

“I guess I've had a really good artistic side of me. And I guess that I'm pretty good at it. I do designs. I will do like poster boards and stuff like that. I'm into like Superheroes and stuff like that,” he explained.

He’s also a bit of a collector when it comes to a popular video game series.

“I like to collect Pokemon cards. And some of these cards are worth a lot of money,” he said holding up one of the cards.

But he’s also a kid who likes to be outdoors and enjoy sports.

“I really liked to play football with my friends. I like to stay active. I like to go outside a lot. Well, I go fishing. I love fishing. It's just the exhilaration for whenever I get my first fish, the day I feel joyful because I get a really good fish,” Jesse said.

Jesse is currently in foster care in the state of Michigan. He’s hoping to be matched one day with a parent or parents who will adopt him.

“I just wish I could have someone that loved and cared for me and that shows me love and that will help me get along through my bad parts of my days, my, like, rough times,” Jesse explained.

He looks forward to having a good relationship with his future parents.

“If I could live with someone, I would want them to love and would take care of me. And I would take care of them, too,” Jesse said.

Jesse has been waiting to be adopted since July of 2019.
