Jury selection begins for Michael Sykes case

Posted

Jury selection is set to begin today for a suspected serial rapist, Michael Sykes.

He's been linked to at least five separate attacks across Detroit.

The 21-year-old suspect faces a laundry list of charges as heads into the courtroom this morning.

Michael Sykes is charged with kidnapping, criminal sexual conduct, armed robbery and weapons charges to name a few.

He is accused of sexually assaulting five different women. Three of the women were attacked back in March.

Two of those women testified during his preliminary hearing, stating he made them perform sexual acts at gun point.

They were able to escape only by promising not to report the crime, but obviously they did.

Sykes is also standing trial for a 2008 case involving the sexual assault of other women back in 2008.

Jury selection for his case will begin at 9 a.m. in Wayne County Circuit Court.
