Last minute shoppers hitting the stores

Posted

Tis' the season. But for many shoppers this year it's a choice between hurry up or wait.

With the holiday shopping season drawing to a close, the rush is on to finish strong.

But going into the final stretch, a recent study by American Express Spending and Saving Tracker reveals that most Americans-- some 73 percent--- are waiting.

The reason? Last minute bargains.

The study says the procrastination strategy may go all the way up to the day after Christmas, which could outpace Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales.

Slightly more people have shopped online than in stores this holiday season. Lower gas prices are giving people more money to spend this year.

Still, many want to save.

Most people take advantage of post holiday sales to buy for themselves.

Another reason people shop at the end of the season is to spend money they have on gift cards.
