Learn more about the Freedom of Information Act at the SPJ Detroit FOIA Festival on Oct. 12

DETROIT (WXYZ) — The Freedom of Information Act is one of the most important tools open to the public, and journalists and citizens across metro Detroit and Michigan are invited to the Society of Professional Journalists – Detroit Chapter FOIA Festival.

The event is happening Saturday, Oct. 12 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Wayne State University Student Center. The address is 5221 Gullen Mall, Detroit, MI 48202.

Attorney General Dana Nessel is the keynote speaker for the event, and it will also feature sessions on FOIA and how to use it from state and local leaders, as well as metro Detroit journalists.

Tickets for the event are $15 for non-SPJ members, but members of SPJ are free.
