A professional boxing legend was honored in Detroit on Saturday, by getting a street named after him.

Thomas "The Hitman" Hearns was surrounded by friends and fans at the afternoon ceremony where the city dedicated part of McGraw Avenue at Junction Street to become Thomas Hearns Avenue.

"Never have I dreamed of having my own street, but it happened," Hearns said. "It was all because of faith in God. The love of the people helped me become who I am today, and I'm very appreciative."

Thomas Hearns Avenue is located just across the street from the Kronk Gym, where the seven-time world champion trained.
