Expect long lines at the Secretary of State Monday morning.

Michigan driver responsibility fees will officially be eliminated. The bill was signed in March by Governor Rick Snyder and forgave almost $650 million in debt owed by nearly 350,000 drivers.

Previously, if drivers were behind the wheel without a license and were caught, they could get fined a responsibility fee.

Drivers who owed too much had their licenses taken away but they can apply for reinstatement beginning Oct. 1.

Those who apply for reinstatement by the end of the year will not have to pay a $125 reinstatement fee.

Officials say the Secretary of State officers have hired more clerks in anticipation of the rush.
