Luke Bryan, former President Obama and Red Wings take over downtown Detroit tonight

Downtown Detroit will be bustling Friday evening with three major events taking place. 

Officials have issued a parking and traffic advisory for drivers attending: 

  • the Red Wings versus Winnipeg Jets game at Little Caesars Arena at 7:30 p.m.
  • Night of Knockouts XIV at Motor City Casino at 6:30 p.m.
  • former President Barack Obama campaigning for Michigan Democrats at Cass Tech High at 5:30 p.m.
  • the Luke Bryan concert at Ford Field at 5:30 p.m.
  • the Brockhampton concert at The Masonic at 5:30 p.m.

City officials say intermittent freeway closures and street closures are expected around Cass Tech from 5-9 p.m.

Heavy traffic is expected on Woodward, Cass, Martin Luther King Boulevard, Grand River and I-75 and M-10 freeways starting 6:30 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early and will be able to park near Little Caesars Arena. 

Police are also reminding drivers to be mindful of improper parking, including: 

  • Parking within feet from a crosswalk, intersection, traffic control device or fire hydrant
  • Blocking bus stops, driveways and alleys
