WYANDOTTE, Mich. (WXYZ) — Wyandotte police are investigating an alleged theft after a local woman reported she forget her cell phone in a Lyft vehicle.

The woman told police she received a ride to her home from the rideshare service Lyft around 8:50 p.m. on March 5.

After she arrived home around 9:25 p.m., she noticed she left her phone in the Lyft and called the driver using a friend's phone. The driver, who the customer knew only by her first name, said she would drop off the phone after taking a client to Lincoln Park.

The woman waited several minutes then opened her "Find My Phone" and saw that the driver continued driving clients to Westland.

Police say the driver gave herself a 5-star rating and tipped herself $5 tip on the Lyft app using the woman's phone.

According to the victim, the driver turned off the phone so the owner could no longer track the location of her phone. The phone was never returned, Wyandotte police say.

The detectives are now investigating the matter.
