A federal grand jury has indicted 58-year-old Dino Bucci, a Macomb Township trustee and former county official, on corruption charges.

Bucci is facing 18 counts of conspiracy, bribery, embezzlement, extortion, mail fraud and money laundering.

The indictment -- which was announced today by the United State's Attorney's Office -- accuses Bucci of running "pay-to-play" schemes with contractors for nine years.

There's also accusations of Bucci using his position to collect kickbacks and embezzle tens of thousands of dollars using a variety of criminal methods.

“The crimes as alleged in today’s indictment highlight a pervasive pattern of past corrupt and illegal practices in Macomb County”, said David P. Gelios, Special Agent in Charge, Detroit Division of the FBI, in a news release. “As such, the FBI and the IRS will continue in the foreseeable future to dedicate investigative resources in Macomb County and elsewhere until the public’s trust in elected officials is bolstered, and honest and responsible government is the order of the day.”
