LANSING, MI. — Congratulations to the Historical Society of Michigan for its recent new building dedication of the Meijer Center for Michigan History in Lansing. It was a pleasure having Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and Hank Meijer, Executive Chairman of Meijer Inc. and the Meijer Foundation, join HSM Executive Director & CEO Larry Wagenaar and me to make remarks on that bitter cold evening! Also, thanks to so many HSM board members and friends for coming out to support us. It was an exciting event and another historic milestone for HSM which was established in 1828, our state's oldest cultural organization. Although not a part of state government, HSM is the official state historical society by law and does a superb job of promoting Michigan history and stories.
