COMMERCE TWP. (WXYZ) — Police in Commerce Township are looking for a man who allegedly followed a woman in Meijer and took photos under her skirt.

The incident happened at the Meijer on 1703 Haggerty Road Aug. 11.

The victim told police that the man followed her around the store while carrying a car wash brush. When the woman went to bend over to pick up an item, the man pushed the brush under her skirt.

Police say the victim's description of events was corroborated by Meijer surveillance footage.

Shoppers say hearing about something like this is disturbing.

“You think going grocery shopping, it’s pretty benign but you never know,” said shopper Erin Katz, after hearing about what happened.

Customers say they’re disgusted and concerned to hear someone was taking pictures up a woman’s skirt.

“Of course it concerns me. What we’re going through with the pandemic, we don’t need this on top of that,” said shopper Jason Young.

The suspect left in a black Ford F-150 pickup truck with a cargo carrier attached to the hitch.

“I know that people are sort of focused on getting in and out as quickly as possible with the pandemic going on, but women need to be aware of their surroundings still,” Katz said.

If you have information on this incident, contact the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up.
