MT. CLEMENS, Mich. (WXYZ) — A kitten has been euthanized after it was shot by a BB gun in Mt. Clemens, authorities say.
On Nov. 5, Macomb County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to Rathbone Street to a wounded kitten on a porch; the kitten was bleeding and appeared to have a neck injury, officials said.
The callers said they believed the kitten was shot by a man who had driven around the block multiple times. The homeowner reported seeing a black Buick Rendezvous driving around his block several times.
He called a family member, who reported hearing a loud "pop" sound as the vehicle passed the homeowner's residence; the kitten was found on the homeowner's porch.
Deputies say the homeowner does not own the kitten, but frequently feeds stray cats in the area.
While gathering the information, the suspect vehicle reportedly drove by again. Deputies made a traffic stop and Adam Christie, 39, of Mt. Clemens, was taken into custody.
Authorities say his two minor children were also in the vehicle and turned over to a third party. A BB gun was located in the back seat of the vehicle.
The kitten was euthanized at Macomb County Animal Control due to the severity of its injuries.
Christie was charged with one count of Animal – Killing/Torturing – Third Degree, a felony.
