Investigators say Thomas and his 21-year-old passenger met a guy on social media and agreed to buy a pair of Jordans.

They reportedly picked up the man Tuesday afternoon and were going to get the shoes when an argument broke out inside the SUV.

Police say the front seat passenger and the back seat passenger both had guns and started shooting inside the vehicle.

Thomas was shot and killed, and the 21-year-old was shot in the shoulder. The man in the back seat fled and was later arrested.

Investigators did recover both weapons at the scene.

Martin Luther King High School officials confirm Thomas was a student there and in the 11th grade. Grief counselors have been on-site today.
