A man has been formally charged in the stabbing death of a grandfather at a Utica park.

Miguel Mansour pleaded not guilty Tuesday to first-degree murder in the death of Michael Shereda.

Shereda was attending his granddaughter's birthday party at Grant Park on Saturday, Sept. 1 when he approached a man on a bench who appeared to be doing drugs. He asked the man to stop and leave before he was attacked and stabbed several times, according to police.

Mansour is being held in Macomb County jail. His bail was denied.
