DETROIT (WXYZ) — A Chrysler Stamping Plant employee has died after a traffic crash on Mack and St. Jean in Detroit Saturday morning.

Police say 29-year-old Pierre Fullove was on his way to work around 5 a.m. when he tried to speed up and pass another vehicle as he entered the plant. Fullove loss control of his SUV, slid on ice and crashed into a pole, causing the vehicle to burst into flames.

Two other plant workers suffered burns in an attempt to rescue the man. The 54-year-old had burns to his hands and face, and a 24-year-old suffered hand burns and smoke inhalation. They were taken to the hospital, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing.
