BRIGHTON, Mich. (WXYZ) — A man is in police custody after reportedly shaking a baby's head at an apartment in Brighton.
Police say that on Tuesday, a 1-year-old boy was reportedly pushed down on the floor three times, causing him to strike his head. Police say the child was then shaken feverishly, allegedly by his mother's live-in boyfriend.
The child was transferred to Children's Hospital from St. Joseph's Woodland on a ventilator with injuries consistent with shaken baby syndrome. Police say he is suffering from seizures and is still in critical condition.
Police say the boyfriend was cooperative with detective and officers and placed into custody. He is currently at the Livingston County Jail, awaiting arraignment.
The mother, who is pregnant with the boyfriend's child, was in the same room when the incident occurred, police say. No formal charges have been filed on her at this time.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for the child's family.
