WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) — A man is dead after being shot by police, following a nine-hour standoff in Warren. The standoff happened throughout the night, into Saturday morning, at the Lancaster Woods Apartments near 12 Mile and Hayes.
Police Commissioner William Dwyer tells 7 Action News that officers tired to negotiate with the man, but the suspect set his apartment on fire -- then jumped out a back window with a gun in his hand. Dwyer says as the man landed, he engaged officers. The officers then shot and killed the suspect.
Police say no hostages were ever in danger.
