WASHTENAW COUNTY, Mich. (WXYZ) — A man who was found guilty of his wife's murder was sentenced to mandatory life in prison for the murder of his wife.
Gregory Agnew was found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Martha Agnew.
The 49-year-old was found dead by her daughter in her Ypsilanti Township home on February 17, 2018.
From the beginning, deputies thought the death was questionable.
She died of strangulation, though she had a blunt force injury to her head and heroin and fentanyl in her system, officials say. They believe her death was staged to look like an overdose.
At Agnew's arraignment, prosecutors also brought up a cold case Agnew is a prime suspect in: the 1993 disappearance of his girlfriend, Tammy Niver. She has not been seen since she wen to visit Agnew on Aug. 7, 1993.
Because of Martha's murder, Niver's case is now actively being reinvestigated.
