ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WXYZ) — A suspect wanted for assault has turned himself in to the Roseville Police Department.

Authorities say the man pictured above was wanted for assaulting a Walmart employee after trying to leave the Gratiot Avenue location without paying for items.

On March 16, around 3:25 p.m., the suspect was shopping in Walmart and used the self-scan checkout, police say.

While leaving, the suspect showed the 23-year-old Walmart employee his receipt, and the employee discovered the man did not pay for some of the items. Police say the employee recovered the merchandise, and the suspect continued as though he was leaving the store.

The suspect then turned around and assaulted the employee, throwing him to the ground and into a shopping cart, causing a cut to the employee's head, police say. At the time, the suspect left the store and drove off in a silver older model Chevy Impala.

The employee was taken to the hospital and received treatment for his injuries.

The man is expected to be arraigned be sometime Wednesday.
