Metro Detroit gas prices on the rise again, 60 cents higher than last year

With Memorial Day weekend on the horizon, gas prices have risen once again in metro Detroit and in Michigan with the average now above $3.00 per gallon.

According to AAA Michigan, gas prices in the state rose 7 cents to $3.00 per gallon which is also 52 cents higher than this time last year.

As for metro Detroit, that also rose 7 cents to $3.01 per gallon, which is 60 cents higher than last year.

The lowest prices in the state can be found in the Traverse City area, where it's around $2.90 per gallon while Ann Arbor is the highest average at $3.05 per gallon.

While the state has seen weeks of growth, AAA says Michigan is 14th in the nation for the most expensive daily gas price while we rank 9th for biggest change in average price.
