Businesses and organizations in metro Detroit are gearing up for Hurricane Florence and are sending groups to the East Coast to help.

Several companies and organizations are sending teams from metro Detroit.

Med-Star says three paramedic crews left late Tuesday night to work with FEMA. Belfor, a property restoration company, is sending in volunteer crews and equipment from the state.

The American Red Cross said they already have people on the ground.

"Right now, in the state of Michigan, we have 40 volunteers and staff assigned, or deployed...we have 16 from the metro area," said Tony Lasher, Regional Director Officer for Red Cross Michigan.
