LANSING, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Michigan Secretary of State's Office has released a list of the candidates who will appear in the Michigan presidential primary ballot in 2020.
According to the SOS, President Donald Trump and three Republican challengers; Mark Sanford, Joe Walsh and Bill Weld, are on the ballot.
For the Democrats, there are 18 candidates including former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
The Secretary of State's Office has to issue a list of individuals “generally advocated by the national news media to be potential presidential candidates” for both parties in the primary election, under state law.
Now, the chairs of the Michigan Democratic and Republican parties have until 4 p.m. on Nov. 12 to add names of other candidates.
Any candidate identified on either list or the party chairperson's candidate listening who wishes to designate a different party or withdraw has until 4 p.m. on Dec. 13.
According to the SOS, candidates not on the list can get on the ballot if they file a nominating petition with the SOS no later than 4 p.m. on ec. 13.
The Michigan presidential primary will take place March 10, 2020.
