A 28-year-old man from Adrian has been accused of extorting nude photos from children through Snapchat.
The Adrian Police Department located the suspect, Daniel Jesus Martinez, on July 18 in the 1300 block of W. Maumee St.
Officers learned that children, some as young as 10 years old, were allegedly being extorted by Martinez using the mobile app Snapchat.
Martinez would allegedly demand that the children provide him with graphic images of themselves or other children, and would threaten them with the hacking of their internet accounts if they refused.
Police say numerous images of unidentified children have been recovered.
Martinez has been charged with the following:
- Three counts of Child Sexually Commercial Activity
- Three counts of Child Sexually Abusive Material - Possession
- Three counts Children - Accosting for Immoral Purposes
- Three counts Computer - Using to Commit a Crime
