MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office announced Friday they have been informed of Michigan State Police launching an investigation into the use of their forfeiture funds.
Due to the state police's criminal investigation, no comments will be made by the county, according to Macomb County’s Office of Corporation Counsel.
The office said in a statement that they will "cooperate fully with the investigation":
Macomb County’s Office of Corporation Counsel was informed today that the Michigan State Police, First District Special Investigation Section, has opened a criminal investigation into the Macomb County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office use of forfeiture funds. As a result, no further comments will be made by Macomb County. Any questions regarding the investigation should be directed to the State of Michigan Attorney General’s Office. Macomb County will cooperate fully with the investigation.
