Michigan State Police stop 149 drivers during distracted driving operation

Michigan State Police troopers conducted 149 stops on Wednesday during a distracted driving operation. 

April is distracted driving month, and MSP plans on conducting a lot more enforcement on the problem of distracted driving in April.

The Special Enforcement Section patrolled M-59 Wednesday from Pontiac to Waterford. According to the MSP Twitter page, Ten troopers conducted 149 stops and issued tickets for the following offenses: 21 seatbelt violations, two car seat violations and one running a red light violation.

Additionally, 24 speeding violations, two texting and driving, 18 uninsured motorists, 13 driving on a suspended license, one drunk driver, four arrested on warrants, seven misdemeanor arrests and 31 miscellaneous citations.
