A storm system is coming together tonight in the Central Plains and will track through the Midwest and Ohio Valley. The northern extent of this storm will reach as far north as the Detroit Metro area bringing a period of snow Sunday afternoon into the evening.
Timing and Coverage
The timing of the snow will be as early as 2 pm for areas along and south of I-94. The snow will then push north beyond Detroit into Oakland and Macomb counties - then eventually north of M-59.
The storm will be in the process of pulling away around 8 pm and should clear the whole area 11 pm.
Snow Totals
Snowfall is expected to be in the 2"-3" range for most of the Metro Detroit area although some backyards could pick up as much as 4".
This will be enough to slow you down and lead to snow covered roads for much of the evening. Most of the roads should be clear by Monday morning, but secondary roads may still be covered.
