(WXYZ) — As February comes to a close it appears March will come in like a lion. We'll have a few chances of seeing some snow this week with the heaviest round coming on Wednesday. Roughly 3 to 4 inches of snow is expected with lighter amounts south of Detroit. As a general rule of thumb with this forecast – the further south you are, the lower your accumulations will be.
Snow Forecast:
Timing is the Issue:
Timing will be the issue with this storm, since it's expected to get going Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. This sets the stage for a rough commute during the morning rush on Wednesday. Look for the snow to get underway after midnight. By 3 a.m., the snow will be widespread across much of the area and ramp up by 7 a.m.
Snow is expected to clear out of the area towards the evening rush but area-wide slick roads are likely.
The forecast will be "fine tuned" as we get closer, but plan on giving yourself extra time in the morning since only the main roads and highways will be treated during the overnight hours.
