A self-confessed child molester is in police custody thanks to a viewer tip.
Brent Jeffrey admitted to the horrific crime against the young girl, but when it was time to be sentenced, he was nowhere to be found.
He was arrested in a Walmart parking lot in Chesterfield Township just days after being featured as a Detroit's Most Wanted.
The U.S. Marshals said he's was hanging in Macomb County with family helping him hide.
The 13-year-old victim was mourning the loss of her mother, and Marshals say her neighbor and family friend, Jeffrey, took advantage of her grief. He gave her alcohol and then allegedly sexually assaulting her.
"Since this happened, she's tried to commit suicide, she has anger issues, lots of anger issues, she's upset at the world," her father said.
Police say Jeffrey confessed and pleaded guilty to the unthinkable act, and then took off. He was on the run for almost a year.
"The information we have is he's hopping from hotel to hotel, these little rinkey dink hotels," U.S. Marshals Deputy Aaron Garcia said.
Jeffrey is 34 years old, 6-feet-tall weighing 190 pounds.
"His ties are all in the Macomb county area, Clinton Township, Macomb area," Garcia said. "The kind of work this guy does with siding and the construction stuff, he could be in anybody’s house, when you get these jobs you don’t ask for a background check on these people."
He was at the top of the Most Wanted list as the Marshals fear there could be more victims.
