Gang leader turns himself in after WXYZ report

Posted

Last night we introduced you to a man the US Marshals called their top priority- a notorious gang leader.

Tonight he’s back behind bars after calling 7 Action News – wanting to surrender.

This morning Kenneth Smith’s sister gave us a call. He saw himself on 7 Action News and, with the encouragement of family members, wanted to turn himself in.

It’s what Trina Smith demanded from her older brother after seeing his face Monday on 7 Action News.

Wanted for domestic violence, drugs, organized crime, multiple counts of assault, and possession of a machine gun – authorities say the gang leader cut his tether last week and the hunt began.

An arrangement to meet with us along with the us marshals landed Smith in handcuffs and on his way back to behind bars.

Smith is accused of ordering a hit on two brothers in may that resulted in four people being shot with an AK-47

Kenneth Smith will now face additional charges in federal court for being on the run.
