A convicted sex offender cuts his tether and takes off.  Now, the U.S. Marshals fear he’s out to find more victims.

Timothy Colmenero did the crime and served 5 years in prison but he didn’t stay out of trouble for long after he was released and police need your help to put him back behind bars.

“He cut off his tether, and he fled parole,” Deputy U.S. Marshal Aaron Garcia said.  “He basically said- enough of this, I’ve had enough of being monitored after I‘ve done time for committing sex assault on somebody, now I’m going to go do my own thing.”

Two months, that’s all it took once Colmenero was released from prison – friends and family say he had a plan.

“He says he’s trying to go to Mexico, he needs some money and he needs a gun,” Garcia said.

Colmenero was on probation when he was released in 2015 and required to register as a sex offender.

“What does a sex assault fugitive need money and a gun for?” Garcia said.

Police say after cutting his tether Colmenero took off from his home in Port Huron on his motorcycle.

“In the City of Detroit- his motorcycle’s found and from there there’s zero sightings of this guy,” Aaron said.

Timothy Colmenero is 58-years-old, he’s 5’9” 200 pounds and his front teeth are chipped.

“We have ideas where he might be, he has ties to Ohio, to St. Clair, to Macomb and to the Detroit area,” Garcia said.
