It’s a fender bender that ended in gunfire. Now, the U.S. Marshals are asking for your help finding Detroit’s Most Wanted.
They say Martin Jones' quick temper and violent criminal history is what concerns them most.
Deputy U.S. Marshal Aaron Garcia says he’s certain Jones is here in Detroit and that it's only a matter of time before he claims his next victim.
“Martin Jones is wanted by the Detroit Police Department for assault with intent to murder in which he shot three victims,” he said.
It happened October 15, 2015 when Garcia says 26-year-old Jones can be seen at Regal Spirits on Detroit’s west side in surveillance video.
“Martin Jones who’s a prior felon has a weapon and is trying to sell this weapon in the store,” Garcia said.
After unsuccessfully selling the gun, Jones walks out into the parking lot where a Ford Flex is waiting for him and a red car begins to back up.
“As they leave the parking lot they get into an accident with the vehicle the suspect Martin Jones was in at the time,” Garcia said.
And just like that, Garcia says that gun went from on the market, to on fire.
“At that point they were met with gunfire and they were being shot at,” Garcia said. “One of the guys was shot in the head, a graze wound to the head and they all were ultimately shot, all three in the vehicle.”
Surveillance video shows Jones get in the Flex and take off. That vehicle has been recovered, without any sign of the shooter.
“Martin Jones has a distinct look, he has tattoos on the neck,” Garcia said. “He could have short hair, he could have long hair, he’s been off the radar for about a year.”
Jones has a long criminal history, also wanted for assault and drugs.
Now, the Marshals have made him priority number one, offering a reward for anyone with information leading to his arrest.
“He needs to go to jail, we’re gonna get him, whether it’s today, tomorrow,” Garcia said.
Martin Jones is 6’ tall, 150 pounds and considered armed and dangerous.
