Mother who left infant in car must not go to bars, as condition of bond

A 35-year-old mother was charged today in connection with leaving her infant child unattended in a car in the Sam’s Club parking lot in Southgate.

People in the parking lot called police after seeing the small child alone in the car. When police arrived, they confirmed and arrested Stefanko when she exited the store.

Stefanko has been charged with misdemeanors child abuse – fourth degree and child-abuse – leaving a child unattended in a vehicle. 

She was arraigned on the warrant on today in 28th District Court and received a $500 bond.  

As a condition of bond the defendant is restricted from using alcohol, going to establishments serving alcohol, must not possess firearms, and cannot possess drugs. 

The pretrial hearing is on March 23.
