University of Michigan cancels spring football game, stops recruiting

(WXYZ) — The University of Michigan Athletics Department announced it is canceling the spring football game and stopping all recruiting due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

According to U-M, all home games will be regularly scheduled, but will take place without any fans. Only student-athletes, coaches, officials, essential personnel and a limit of two family members will be able to attend.

Also, all third party competitions scheduled to take place in or around U-M athetlic facilities will be canceled, as will the annual Big House 5K on April 19 and te spring practice on April 18.

They will also not allow coaches to conduct off-campus recruiting activites or host recruits on official or unofficial campus visits during the time period.

For fans, all single-game ticket purchases will be refunded by the ticket office, and all season ticket holders will get a partial refund.

They are also workign with the NCAA regarding the status of the Men's Gymnastics Championships scheduled for the Crisler Center on April 17 and 18.
