Former NFL star Cortez Kennedy has died, the Orlando Police Department tweeted.
Kennedy, 48, played defense for the University of Miami and the Seattle Seahawks before retiring after the 2000 season.
Kennedy was named the Defensive Player of the Year in 1992 while playing for the Seahawks. He was named to the Miami Sports Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2012.
The Orlando Police Department tweeted that the office is investigating the death but that there is "nothing suspicious to report."
