(WXYZ) — The newest Netflix murder documentary is the story behind former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez. Executive Producer Dan Wetzel is a Yahoo Sports national sports columnist, who lives locally and became more intrigued with this story as he spent months covering the trial in Boston.
“It’s such a rich story. It’s a tragic story. It’s a sad story – but it’s a story with so many different elements in it," Wetzel said. "I think that’s why really shocks people, a lot of people know about Aaron Hernandez and they know something about him, certainly sports fans, but you watch this whole thing and these different angles and different elements come into it are stunning.”
The three-part documentary series was released on Netflix this past Wednesday, and already, it’s getting rave reviews. Wetzel is proud of how it turned out, as hell remember this story for the rest of his career.
