Growing concerns about fire safety systems in Flint have fire officials taking action on Monday, after 7 Action News raised serious questions about corrosive water and fire suppression systems inside buildings.

Shortly after the city switched water courses to the Flint River in April 2014, General Motors stopped using it because it was too corrosive. They tapped into Flint Township which used Detroit water.

Flint's fire chief and others involved in the department are calling area contractors with an alert to check fire suppression systems before it's too late.
