ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. (WXYZ) — St. Clair Shores police have released surveillance video of an assault inside a bar that killed a man in December.
On Dec. 26, police arrested and updated charges after the 47-year-old man died following an assault at Kapones Sports Tavern in St. Clair Shores, 24301 Harper Ave.
The suspect, Hatum Jarguis Akrawi, was arraigned on Dec. 23 in 40th District Court and given a $50,000 bond.
After it was confirmed that the victim, Shawn Kubic, of St. Clair Shores, had died from injuries sustained in the assault, police say Akrawi's charges are pending at this time.
The incident happened around 1 a.m. Sunday. Police found the victim on the ground unconscious at the sports bar, and bleeding from the face.
He was then transported to a local hospital and listed in critical condition before succumbing to his injuries and being pronounced dead on Thursday.
Police say the suspect fled the scene after the alleged assault.
Additional details on the assault have not been released as police are still investigating. If you have information, please contact the St. Clair Shores Police Department.
Akrawi's next appearance in court is scheduled for Jan. 3.
A GoFundMe page has been created to support Kubic's young daughter Kylee in his absence.
