New 'Waiting' statue put in place near Campus Martius

If you're heading to downtown Detroit this week, you'll see a new piece of art near Campus Martius Park.

The piece was was purchased by Jennifer and Dan Gilbert for the Detroit Art Collection, which places works of art in and around Bedrock properties.

The piece is called "Waiting" and at 17 feet, you won't miss this.

"Waiting" is from nationally known artist and designer Brian Donnelley, better known as Kaws. The sculpture represents a parent and child in a moment of pause, and it's composed with over two tons of bronze.

If you know the artist, you'll know "Waiting" features a figure known as companion, that Kaws had used before. Several people have checked out the statue and there are mixed reactions.

The public unveiling is happening on Tuesday night at Campus Martius beginning at 6 p.m.
