ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) — A woman partially bit off the ear of her female friend at an apartment complex in Rochester Hills, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Department.

A 44-year-old woman is in police custody and facing charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, less than murder.

She was arrested early Tuesday morning after deputies were called to the Lake Village Apartment Complex on Norfolk Drive around 1 a.m. Residents called about a woman moaning and looking for help.

When deputies entered the apartment through an unlocked door, they found the two women partially nude, covered in blood and lying on the bedroom floor. The victim, a 48-year-old woman, had numerous bite marks on her face and part of her left ear was bitten off. Deputies said the suspect was hovering over the victim and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or unknown drugs.

An investigation revealed the two women were previously neighbors and the victim had invited the suspect over to her apartment for drinks.

She told deputies she woke up to find the suspect had removed her clothing and was strangling her and biting her. The suspect told the victim she was going to kill her, according to a police report.

Both women were taken to the hospital.
