An off-duty Detroit police officer allegedly fought with his girlfriend in downtown Detroit Sunday and brandished his gun when people tried to help, sources say.
The officer has reportedly worked at the 5th Precinct for two years.
Detroit police were called to investigate a case of felonious assault with a firearm.
Sources say he had been arguing with his girlfriend when things spilled outside. He then tried forcing her into his car.
Two men tried to intervene when the officer allegedly pulled a gun from his trunk and pointed it at the men.
Detroit police say its unknown if the off-duty officer was under the influence of alcohol.
Police are currently investigating the allegations. The officer is in custody and will be formally charged Monday.
