PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) — A metro Detroit doctor is facing several charges for allegedly explicitly filming people in several different areas of hospitals, homes and other places.

Officials say they also believe the doctor recorded sexual encounters he had "with numerous women, with hospital patients who were either asleep or unconscious."

Oumair Aejaz, 40, is facing the following charges:

  • One count of child sexually abusive activity
  • One count of using a computer to create and or reproduce child sexually abusive material
  • Two counts of capturing/recording children under the age of 18 while nude
  • Two counts of capturing/recording two women over the age of 18 while nude
  • Four counts of using a computer to commit a crime

It’s alleged that Aejaz placed hidden cameras in changing rooms, bathrooms, hospital rooms, closets, bedrooms, bathrooms and closets of residences he had access to.

According to Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard, the victims range from children as young as two years old all the way up to adults.

Bouchard said Aejaz was a contract physician who went to different locations, and they have executed a number of search warrants.

So far, police say they have seized six computers, four phones and 15 external storage drives. One of those hard drives alone reportedly has 13,000 videos on it.

According to Bouchard, due to the lengthy amount of time he’s been allegedly involved in this activity, they believe there is more to be uncovered and they believe there are more victims out there.

Those who believe they may be a victim or may have information are asked to email OCSOSIU@oakgov.com.

According to Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald, the tip came from Aejaz's wife and he was arrested on August 8th at his residence.

The father of two boys was arraigned on those charges on Aug. 13 and given a $2 million bond.

“The victimization is so broad and the perversion so great that we’re just beginning to wrap our arms around it. Disturbing on so many levels. It’s hard to look at the videos of that activity. Where a woman is basically unconscious in a hospital bed. A 2-year-old thinking they’re out for a swim day,” Bouchard said. “There’s nobody that’s out of bounds for this sick, sick activity.”

McDonald said the case is “extremely disturbing” and that most of the activity took place in the Rochester and Rochester Hills areas.

She said that those charges are only related to the victims they know about so far but they know there will be many more victims coming forward. Those are a 2-year-old, a 4-year-old and two women.

According to McDonald, the hospitals where he allegedly worked are cooperating and want to work with law enforcement to hold him accountable.

“I can’t stress enough the amount of hours and hours of work it takes for the computer crimes section of the sheriff’s office, and they have been doing that for almost around the clock for a week,” McDonald said.

Bouchard said that it could take six months for the detectives to go through all the evidence. He said the suspect was using a variety of camera options.

According to Bouchard, Aejaz has worked at Ascension Gensys Hospital in Grant Blanc and Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. He's an Indian citizen who came to the U.S. in 2011 for an internship and did his residency at Sinai Grace. He moved to Alabama and then moved back to metro Detroit.

Henry Ford Health System released the following statement following the arrest:

We are shocked by these allegations and take them very seriously. This individual has never been an employee of Henry Ford Health but had privileges at several area hospitals, including Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. The safety of our patients and team members is our top priority and we have taken immediate action to prevent him from practicing at our health system.

Goldfish Swin School issued the following statement about the case:

Our entire team was shocked, angered and saddened to recently learn of Mr. Aejaz's criminal activity within our school, along with many other locations in the greater community. To think that anyone would violate the privacy and trust of others, particularly vulnerable children, is inconceivable. While Aejaz has not been in our facility for months, we will do everything in our power to continue to cooperate with law enforcement as they, along with other public safety partners, hold him fully accountable for his actions. The safety of our students, families and team members are our top priority – this is not negotiable. We will continue to work with those affected to provide them the support needed during this time. As this is an ongoing criminal investigation, we will not elaborate further to preserve the integrity of the investigation.
