Once again, it’s time for our Community Comments. Our station editorial preparing voters for the General Election prompted this message from Alberta Grant.
“Thank you Channel 7 for encouraging people to do their homework before casting their ballot. Who and what you vote for is serious business!”
Our editorial analyzing election results triggered this observation from Joy Duffy.
“You forgot to mention the millage that passed in Washtenaw County that gives better service and care to the mentally ill and special education students.”
Thomas Wilson, Jr. reacted to our editorial about Detroit’s bid for the second Amazon headquarters and the city’s efforts to grow small businesses. He writes:
“What do we have to lose (making a pitch to Amazon)? Nothing! But we’ve got the world to gain should Detroit be selected by Amazon.” He also said, “I would like to hear more about developments such as the Ferguson Project, Live/6, Herman Keifer and others, which are going to improve the neighborhoods.”
And there was this comment about our New Economy Initiative Ideas business winners editorial.
“The story came out great and we really appreciate that WXYZ was able to Attend the NEIdeas gala.”
Sara Campbell
And finally, this message about our Detroit tree lighting editorial. Jane Riddle, owner of an Ann Arbor nursery farm writes:
“Please stop saying the Detroit tree is a ‘Norwegian Spruce!’ The botanical name for the tree is picea abies and it is a NORWAY spruce. Saying ‘Norwegian’ doesn’t make you sound smarter. It makes all of us in the green industry CRINGE! (and shout at the television set!)”
Ms. Riddle, duly noted. That’s it for now. Thanks for writing and watching.
