Community Comment: Q-Line, Personal Responsibility, Grand Prix & Mackinac Conference

Posted

Once again, it’s time for our latest Community Comments.  Our Channel 7 Editorial about the launch of Detroit’s Q-Line triggered this response.  David Adams said:

“It’s not the panacea for Southeast Michigan but it’s a great start.  The Q-Line is only a 3.3 mile street car today but hopefully one that runs all the way up Woodward Avenue in the near future.  It’s a sorely needed transportation option.”

Our editorial reminder about graduation celebrations and personable responsibility prompted this e-mail from Michael Trudeau:

“We need more adults expressing the concerns of teen drinking and more patients taking responsibility for educating their children.  You wouldn’t allow your child to get into dangerous household cleaners because it would poison them, so why would you allow your child to have alcohol before the legal drinking age?  Thank you Channel 7 for this important message!”

Maureen Ruiz commented on our editorial about Detroit’s turnaround and the Belle Isle Grand Prix.  She said:

“There was a turnaround?  I missed it.  Last I knew, Detroit had a 40% poverty level.”

But Marlene Montgomery felt differently.  She wrote:

“Roger Penske, rightfully deserves a lot of credit for putting his money, influence and love for Detroit to good use.”

Our Editorial about the annual Mackinac Policy Conference got Michael Gipple to thinking.  He tweeted:

“MDOT officials enjoying Mackinac Island to discuss roads.  Sponsored by the Detroit Chamber.  Lansing not good enough?  Wasting money again.”

And finally, Liz Simpson said:

“Thank heavens for the Mackinac Conference!  Can you imagine where this region and state would be without it?  Probably in the dark ages!”

That’s it for now, thanks for writing and watching.
